Resident Evil Requiem has shattered expectations so far, garnering worldwide critical acclaim for its impressive blend of action and horror. The horror title has received the best user score for any entry in the IP’s history, surpassing the likes of Resident Evil 4 and Village.

Moreover, the sequel has been selling like hot cakes on the commercial front, reaching 5 million copies sold in just 5 days. Now, Resident Evil Requiem has further extended its run as the fastest-selling title in the series by adding another one million sales to its total.

Why It Matters: Resident Evil Requiem is a prominent example of what can happen when a franchise caters to its fans while continuing to evolve in creative ways that don’t stray too far away from its roots.

Capcom has confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem has now surpassed 6 million copies sold worldwide, becoming the fastest game in the franchise to achieve this milestone.

For comparison, the Resident Evil 4 remake took eight months to ship these numbers, while Requiem has sold 6 million in under one month. The horror game also previously broke Resident Evil 6’s record to become the biggest launch in the IP’s history.

Furthermore, Resident Evil Requiem achieved a similar result on Steam, breaking the franchise record for concurrent players and surpassing the Resident Evil 4 remake’s peak user count.
