- Redfall is receiving one last update.
- This update will add the previously promised offline mode, revamped neighbourhoods, and more.
- Recently, Hi-Fi Rush also received its final update, with both studios shutting down.
Xbox’s decision to shut down studios has killed any hopes of Redfall’s redemption. While players had all but abandoned the game, many were hoping Arkane Austin would release new updates as a sign of commitment.
This seemed to be impossible after Xbox’s announcement, but the studio is returning with one final update before saying goodbye to the title forever.
Why it matters: Throughout this title’s lifespan, Arkane Austin has been criticized for rolling out updates infrequently and slowly. However, this move shows the team’s commitment to its fandom.
Over on Twitter, Arkane Austin has thanked everyone for the recent support.
The developer confirms that a new update will soon arrive, adding one crucial feature. This update will include revamped elements like neighborhood and nest systems, but the offline mode will become the main focus.
Redfall launched as an online-only title in 2023, but Arkane Austin confirmed plans to release an offline mode eventually. This update will ensure Redfall can be played for many years, even if the servers eventually go down.
The studio says more information on this update will be shared soon.
Interestingly, Hi-Fi Rush received a similar update recently. Much like Arkane Austin, Tango Gameworks is being shut down, but the studio highlighted its commitment to Hi-Fi Rush through a new update that fixed a few small bugs.
Redfall’s story has nearly come to an end. Unfortunately, the game failed in nearly every way, taking down the developers with it.
It should be noted that Redfall’s latest update won’t include the previously promised DLC characters. Instead, Bethesda is promising compensation for such players. This failure may lead to a future where Bethesda is more careful with its projects, though this could lead to a safer slate of games.
