Now, a reliable leaker has supposedly revealed the price tags of the upcoming generation, suggesting that the PS6 will cost half the price of the next-gen Xbox. From what he says, the Xbox is set to be prohibitively expensive.
Why it matters: If the upcoming Xbox is indeed a hybrid, it will undoubtedly cost a lot more than a regular home console, as it would be more powerful and compete in the PC market as well.
Notable leaker Kepler was asked on X about the anticipated prices of the new consoles. He replied that the PS6 will cost $600, while the Xbox Magnus will double the price tag and cost a whopping $1200.
He said the reason for the significantly inflated price includes the higher die cost, 42% more silicon, 20% more memory, and higher board and cooling costs. Also, they can’t subsidize the hardware with third-party store support.
If this is to be believed, Xbox will now be targeting a completely different market. Rather than competing against the PS6, it will go against full-fledged PCs. Xbox chief also confirmed that it will be a premium and high-end device.
However, the price of the PS6 is also a question mark, considering the tariffs and price hikes. Nonetheless, if the Xbox turns out to be a hybrid, the PS6 is already a definitive choice for those with a limited budget.
