Playground Games Working On 3 Projects Simultaneously!

Story Highlight
  • Playground Games is working on a 3rd game alongside Forza Horizon 6 and Fable.
  • The company set up a new studio last year, possibly to accommodate the development of this new project.
  • It could very well be a new IP or an existing one from Xbox, just like Fable.

Playground Games has a busy schedule up ahead, working on 2 different projects simultaneously. The developer is in charge of the upcoming reboot of Fable, and the RPG territory is fresh grounds for them.

In addition to that, the next installment in the Forza Horizon series is also underway, set to take players to Japan. Now, a new finding reveals that Playground Games has a 3rd secret project it’s working on, according to a developer’s LinkedIn profile.

Why it matters: Playground Games is known for its quality work, and it’s exciting to see the studio’s wings spread beyond just Forza Horizon games. It will be intriguing to see what they showcase next.

This information comes from Jonathan Baker’s LinkedIn profile, a 3D Animator at Playground Games who began working at the studio just at the start of this month.

‘Animating on undisclosed project.’

While this is limited information to go on, we already know that Fable and Forza Horizon 6 have been announced, with more details expected later this month at the Xbox Developer Direct.

Furthermore, it’s already too early for the studio to commence work on the next installment for either Forza Horizon or the Fable series, making us believe that this might be a new game after all.

The Developers Admit That Fable Might Come Out As ‘Mediocre’

Whether it’s based on a new IP or an existing one, that remains to be seen. Fable has been around for a long time at Xbox, and Playground Games took the lead on the IP. They could very well be picking up another franchise under the Xbox banner.

It is also notable that Playground Games set up a third studio around last year, and whilst initially it was thought to support the development of Fable and Forza Horizon 6, it seems that isn’t the case, and it could be solely for this project.

Whatever the case may be, it remains to be seen. Recent reports have suggested a secret announcement from a first-party Xbox studio at the Developer Direct later this month. There’s a slight chance the game could be from Playground Games, but the gaming giant also has several other studios.
