- No Man’s Sky reached a peak of 93k concurrent players on Steam, the most it had in 7 years.
- The latest Voyagers update brought back long-time fans by adding new content, etc.
- No Man’s Sky’s future looks ambitious, and it’s a comeback story of the decade.
No Man’s Sky had as bad, if not a worse, launch than Starfield, and was by far an incomplete release compared to what Hello Games had promised. That is, the studio kept right by the side of the game and has completely transformed it from what it was almost a decade ago.
No Man’s Sky continues to get new updates, and the latest Voyagers update has been the biggest in years. Thanks to this update, long-time fans have been returning to the game, sparking a player peak of 90k for the first time in 7 years.
Why it matters: No Man’s Sky shows developers that they can redeem even the worst releases. The game has now become the best in the space genre.
In the last 24 hours, No Man’s Sky reached a peak of 93k players on Steam, and in August alone, there was a whopping 41.05% increase in player count. In comparison, July only had a peak player count of 15k.
The latest Voyagers update adds a new ship class, Corvettes. Players can assemble Corvettes piece by piece and view them from the inside. Aside from that, version 6.0 also offers spacewalks and skydiving, among other changes.
The new update was designed to further enhance the exploration and multiplayer experience. The sandbox game now offers even more means of traversal and unlimited creativity, thus drawing both long-time fans and a newer player base.
With this steady flow of updates, No Man’s Sky has practically become a live-service game at this point. However, thanks to these updates, the game now boasts a modern look and has the potential to endure for years to come.
