It’s High Time Valorant Brings Custom Maps & Servers Like CS2

It would be a gamechanger and Valorant won't regret it...

Story Highlights
  • Having custom maps in Valorant could mean having dedicated maps for 1v1, sniper-only, and practice matches.
  • Having retakes in Valorant with its agent’s abilities would be extremely fun to play and would take half the time.
  • Custom servers that can play with all of Valorant’s skins for free would help players test them out before purchasing.

It’s been four years since Valorant was released, and we still haven’t received custom maps and servers. Now, it is high time Valorant brought this feature, as it is always better to allow the community to create amazing servers and maps.

Custom Maps

Believe it or not, a portion of Counter-Strike’s success belongs to the community because Valve has given the community freedom to create what they want on their own game. Even the creation of CS was accidental, as CS itself was a mod made for Valve’s Half-Life.

Having custom servers and maps opens doors for a lot of creativity for the community.

Content Diversity

If this is implemented, Valorant can finally have custom maps dedicated to 1v1 battles. In CS2, plenty of 1v1 maps have spots for cover and are smaller but large enough to accommodate two players.

Currently, 1v1 is terrible using Valorant’s maps because they are huge, and half of the time, they are covered in walking toward your opponent. Similarly, we can also have dedicated maps for snipers only.

In CS2, Sniper-only maps contain elevated platforms and narrow spaces around them, making very effective matches. Other maps include tons of locations for cover, aiding the battle.

Empowering Creators

Custom maps will allow the community to showcase their creativity. Often, the creators who are admired for their maps on Steam Workshop become popular among the community, and players wait for their next maps.

Beneficial For Valorant

Developers can observe popular custom maps and servers to gain insights into player preferences. They can integrate the ideas into their official maps and use the players as testing grounds for their new mechanics and map layouts.

Would Compliment Agent’s Abilities

While the agent’s abilities make Valorant harder than CS2, keeping them in mind while making these maps would greatly complement each agent. This way, there could be a tower map for only Jett to fly onto or Raze to jump onto using her Satchel.

Other maps could include multiple entries to the same location, and here, Sage’s wall and other agents’ abilities can help block a few of the entries. The community had both views on Abyss for its falling feature, which can be added to their custom maps.

Extended Lifespan

Counter-Strike hasn’t lost its charm and has always stayed relevant since its release. Part of this is because of the custom servers and maps that the community has created over its lifetime.

People who get bored of Valve’s dedicated servers or the community-created maps. This could also be the case for Valorant, which could enjoy extra years of relevance due to this feature.

Nostalgia & Innovation

Fans love to recreate the maps that are temporarily removed, and if players are given the ability to have custom maps and servers, all of Valorant’s removed maps can be played.

Counter-Strike players have recreated the classic maps of CS 1.6, which are playable for CS2. Similarly, people are innovative and have crafted the same maps Valorant has for Counter-Strike.

It would be hilarious if players could create CS maps for Valorant, which is more than a shooter, once it has the feature to create custom maps.

Custom Servers

Retakes

Retake servers are very popular in Counter-Strike because they comprise shorter sessions with only one site available. The match begins with the spike already being planted, and you have to defuse it while your opponent’s team has to defend it.

Here, the time is short but the stakes are high which make for amazing gameplay with many strategies. Valorant players could enjoy the same high-stake scenario but would be even better because of the inclusion of agent’s abilities.

Training & Practise

CS also has many practice servers where bots stay still or move in various locations with different angles and distances. This allows for better practice and would benefit Valorant since its practice range is outdated, boring, and not as effective.

Free Skins

In CS, a few custom servers contain all the skins present and can be playable using a code such as “!skins” or “!knife.” If this gets included in Valorant, it would be extremely fun and everyone can test the skins and play with them before purchasing them.
