Fans Were Doubtful The Budget Console Wouldn't Be Able To Handle The Game!

Story Highlight
  • GTA 6 is finally available to wishlist on Xbox Series X|S, confirming that it will release on the Series S console.
  • Previously, fans were doubtful that the budget console would be able to run the game.
  • Analysts predict a 720p resolution upcaled to 900p/1080p for GTA 6 on the Series S.

Even though Rockstar has delayed GTA 6 to 2026, we already have our first in-game look for the title, and it’s nothing short of spectacular. As usual, Rockstar has set a new precedent for visuals and details in a video game.

With all the impressive visuals and details the game has, it’s not unusual for fans to be sceptical of the Xbox Series S being able to run the game. However, the game is now available to wishlist on the Xbox Series S, confirming that the console will be capable of running GTA 6.

Why it matters: Xbox Series S has shown signs of struggle running AAA games, so it’s natural to assume that Rockstar will be skipping the release on the device. However, Series S fans will be pleased to know that the game will be released on their entry-level consoles.

Still, the final result wouldn’t be as pretty compared to the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions. If anything, Rockstar would have to significantly downgrade the release in terms of visuals and in-game resolution.

The game already looks impressive, and the Series S port will still be quite pretty even with the visual downgrades. Analysts have predicted that GTA 6 will run at 720p, upscaled to 900p or 1080p resolution, on the Xbox Series S.

For contrast, GTA 5, a release more than a decade old, runs at 1440p 30FPS on fidelity mode with occasional frame drops and performance hiccups.

The entry-level console still targets 1080p gaming, so it doesn’t offer a significant bargain. CDPR also plans to deliver a similar performance with the upcoming Witcher 4, which many speculate will be downgraded to 30 FPS, unlike the 60 FPS experience on the Xbox Series X and PS5.
