One Final Push For The Current Gen Consoles!

Story Highlight
  • Take-Two boss says that GTA 6 will energize console sales.
  • Many people will upgrade from last-gen, and most PC players will also potentially buy consoles specifically for GTA 6.
  • Microsoft has reportedly started increasing Xbox Series X|S production to prepare for the game release.

GTA 6 is finally releasing later this year on November 19th, with no further delays expected, as stated by the Take-Two boss. Marketing for the game will soon ramp up in summertime, and we’re just months from arguably the greatest release in the history of entertainment.

With massive sales expected for the nearly $1 billion+ project, GTA 6 will also give the entire industry a boost, including a push for console sales, as Take-Two CEO puts it.

Why it matters: A software pushing hardware sales is completely opposite of what one would expect, but it just goes to show the scale of what Rockstar is building with GTA 6.

On CNBC, Strauss Zelnick discussed the upcoming plans for GTA 6, now that the game’s release date has been locked.

We’re launching GTA 6 on the newest consoles. Those consoles have been in the market for some time, so some people who don’t have those consoles might have to buy them and i think we’ll probably energize console sales.

Here, the CEO is likely referring to the people on the last-generation consoles, saying that the GTA 6 launch will compel them to upgrade, leading to a surge in the sales of PS5 and Xbox Series devices.

Microsoft has already begun ramping up production of the Xbox Series X|S to prepare for the game’s launch. GTA 6 will be a blessing for Team Green, especially considering their recent hardware performance which was hit rock bottom.

Global Gaming Revenue Expected To Surpass A $200 Billion

For PS5, it is expected to be the main platform for the game, with Rockstar reportedly having secured a marketing deal secured with Sony. The PS5 Pro is already expected to be the only console to support 60FPS for the game, and with the upcoming PSSR update, the mid-gen refresh is finally expected to become successful.

It is also notable that GTA 6 will be a console-only release at launch, as history goes for Rockstar titles. Therefore, expect a lot of PC players also buy consoles exclusively for this game.
