- Fairgames’ game director has left the studio as development hits another hurdle.
- Haven Studios’ CEO also left back in May, indicating a not-so-good fate for the game.
- Fairgames is supposed to release in 2026, but could be delayed even further.
Fairgames is supposed to be Sony’s next major live service title after the failure of Concord. It was announced around the same time as Bungie’s Marathon, and just like the latter, its development has struggled, and now it faces yet another hurdle.
According to a new report, Fairgames’ game director has quietly left Haven Studios after working there for over 4 years. Previously, Jade Raymond, the studio CEO, also left, causing trouble for the development.
Why it matters: Sony’s live service push doesn’t seem to be going well at all. Concord failed badly, Marathon and Fairgames both are going through troubled development, so things aren’t looking too good.
Based on the game director’s profile, Daniel Drapeau, he left Haven Studios and joined WB Montreal as a creative director 2 months ago. It happened really quietly, also around the time rumors of Fairgames’ cancellation surfaced.
However, it was later confirmed that the title is still in development. Despite that, the results haven’t been too positive. Recent internal testing of the pre-alpha was reportedly disappointing, and the game felt generic.
All in all, Fairgames’ fate appears to be very similar to Concord’s already. Sony has now also shifted its live service policy so that they don’t have to face a lot of loss if a game fails. Fairgames is now expected to be released in 2026, unless it is delayed beyond that.
