Since Elon Musk, the richest man in the world with over 223 billion USD net worth, bought Twitter, the news has been almost everywhere. almost everyone has been talking about it, and a lot has happened ever since.

Elon Musk purchased Twitter for $44 billion to make it a private firm and enable users to express themselves more freely. Though, one of the first significant changes coming to Twitter is that maintaining your verified checkmark, or getting verified on Twitter will cost you $8 per month.

This amount was initially rumored to be $20, but after numerous complaints, today Elon Musk on Twitter hinted at $8 per month for a Verified Subscription.

This tweet was intended to address individuals who were still unhappy with the price tag attached to the verified checkmark, but Elon Musk had previously responded to Stephen King’s tweet to clarify that Twitter cannot solely run on advertisers, and has to pay the bills somehow.

A well-known journalist named Meghan Bobrowsky stated in a tweet that there are approximately 423,700 verified users on Twitter. If even 10% of them paid for the verified checkmark, Twitter would generate an additional $4.1 million in income per year.

However, when calculations are done for all of Twitter’s 423,700 verified users, the result comes out to $40.6 million in additional revenue per year for Twitter, which is a significant amount of money.

The actual number is expected to be significantly higher because others who are not currently verified may also buy it, raising the numbers even more. However, it must be kept in mind that the actual figure may greatly differ from what is indicated above; these are only speculations.

This is the limited information we have for now, and we will be on the lookout for more news regarding Twitter in the future. On that note, what do you think about the $8 price tag on the Twitter-verified checkmark? Let us know in the comments section.
