With just a few more days left before release, the official reviews of Doom: The Dark Ages have also been released. As expected, the game has mostly delivered on its promises, marking yet another strong entry for the series.

  • Gamespot – 8/10
  • VGC – 8/10
  • Eurogamer – 9/10
  • Tech Raptor – 8/10

Critics have praised multiple elements of the latest Doom experience. For starters, the actual gunplay is better than it has ever been. id Software’s blend of modern and classic first-person shooters has resulted in explosive combat that tops most of what the industry has to offer today.

Similarly, Doom: The Dark Ages’ visuals are top-notch. Thanks to extensive use of ray tracing and id Tech, the game offers incredible visuals for fans to admire while going through waves of demons.

On the other hand, the game’s repetition has been criticized, and some critics have found the slower gameplay less exciting than anticipated. Moreover, the game’s music has disappointed certain players.

Despite the more ambitious open-world approach, the game’s less focused level design has also received some criticism. However, these flaws do not outweigh the positives of the overall experience.
