Hideo Kojima Has Already Passed The Concept To Someone Else!

Story Highlight
  • Hideo Kojima has stated in a new interview that the concept for Death Stranding 3 is already prepared.
  • However, the Kojima Productions boss won’t be the one to develop the game, as he is focused on the studio’s other projects.
  • The concept has already been passed to someone else, so that the project might start developing soon.

After the original Death Stranding, many fans have been hyped for the sequel that has been in the making for years. While the entry is only a few weeks away, the director, Hideo Kojima, has dropped a new bombshell that Death Stranding 3 will also happen.

The mastermind behind Metal Gear Solid has clarified that a concept for Death Stranding 3 has already been prepped. However, he has declined to helm the project, and it has been passed to ‘someone else.’

Why it matters: A concept for Death Stranding 3 already being ready before the second entry’s release means we might get a sequel earlier than anticipated, but no explicit details are clear.

Death Stranding 2
Death Stranding 2 is becoming a highly anticipated release this year.

In an interview with VGC, Hideo Kojima mentioned that the concept for Death Stranding 3 is ready based on how the story will progress in the upcoming game. But someone else will direct it because Kojima is handling multiple other projects.

I already have a concept for another sequel. I am not going to make it myself, but if I passed it on to someone else, they could probably make it.

-Hideo Kojima

Hideo Kojima even iterates that multiple or countless sequels are technically possible based on a concept introduced in Death Stranding 2 called Plate Gates. These sequels could take place in various countries and locations around the world.

If I use this Plate Gate concept, I could make endless sequels. I, of course, don’t have any plans to do that.

Death Stranding 2
Hearing anything significant about Death Stranding 3 may take a few years.

However, nothing beyond that has been confirmed about Death Stranding 3, so it might be quite different than the first two entries. Kojima Productions is currently working on the Xbox game OD and a new action-espionage PlayStation title, Physint.
