Death Stranding 2 Looks So Photo Realistic, It’s Hard To Tell From Real Life

Kojima Has Done It Again!

Story Highlight
  • Death Stranding 2 has received praise from fans throughout the world.
  • One of the best aspects of the game is that it looks almost exactly like real life.
  • The game is actually so photo realistic that it is pretty hard to distinguish some locations from the real-life ones.

Death Stranding 2 was released last month, and it is one of the highest-rated games of 2025. This game was praised highly by the critics as well as fans, rightfully so. That game has managed to surprise many fans in a good way, which is something that Kojima probably didn’t like, given he didn’t want to appeal to the mass media.

That said, it doesn’t change the fact that he indeed created a masterpiece that people are going to talk about for years. One of the most surprising things about this game is its photo realism. It is so photo realistic that it is actually hard to distinguish it from real life

Why it matters: Without a doubt, Kojima Productions has taken the Decima engine to the next level, and many fans agree. The developer has managed to use the engine to the extent that it makes it hard to differentiate the in-game locations from the original ones.

SynthPotato on Twitter shared that two pictures among one are from the game, and one is from real life. While you can tell which one is from the game because of the character’s outfit and, of course, the prompt, the photo realism is just next level, probably something that has not been seen yet.

Fans are even debating that the next GTA game in the series, which is said to shake the market and become the biggest ever release in the history of gaming, won’t be as photo realistic, which shows just how impressive this feat is.

t’s actually insane. I don’t think GTA will be as photo realistic as this because it will have a different art direction. This is just stunning that moment when you first drop into the game and he stands up is just crazy.

While, of course, gameplay matters more than the graphics and photo realism, a game that looks this good is just so refreshing.
