Featuring New Skill Trees, Perks, Improved AI, And More!

CD Projekt RED has worked hard on Cyberpunk 2077 since its half-cooked launch, bringing it closer to the type of game fans had originally expected. Following such efforts, the game recently managed to gather over 500K positive reviews on Steam.

The next big chapter for the studio’s latest release begins with Phantom Liberty. Last month, the developers showed footage of the upcoming DLC, but they also confirmed that a major update would bring several changes to the core game.

CD Projekt RED has dubbed the new version, ‘Cyberpunk 2077 update 2.0.’ The studio has just confirmed that this update will be released on September 21.

Why it matters: This update seeks to address many of the criticisms of the base game, bringing system-wide improvements to nearly every mechanic in the title.

The update is coming out exactly one week from today, marking a massive release for Cyberpunk 2077.

While Phantom Liberty is a paid expansion, update 2.0 is free for all base game owners, bringing significant reworks to mechanics like cyberware, AI, skill trees, and more. It will also include over 100 new items, including loot, radio stations, and more.

While the perception around Cyberpunk 2077 has already shifted to a great extent, update 2.0 aims to provide the best version of the game, bringing it closer to CD Projekt RED’s original vision.

Cyberpunk 2077: Phantom Liberty

Early impressions from reviewers claim that Cyberpunk 2077 feels better than ever after the 2.0 update.

It delivers a more refined RPG experience compared to the base game, with the changes to skill trees and progression allowing for greater freedom and customization expected from RPGs.

However, the changes to AI are claimed to be a bit disappointing.

Nonetheless, Cyberpunk 2077 is riding its biggest wave of anticipation since the release of Cyberpunk: Edgerunners last year.

The popular anime motivated thousands of players to try the game, and the new update, along with Phantom Liberty, is expected to deliver similar results. Following Cyberpunk 2077 2.0, Phantom Liberty will be released on September 26.
