Crimson Desert Predicted To ‘Easily Be The Second Best-Selling Game of the Year’

Sales Only Expected To Be Eclipsed By GTA 6!

Story Highlight
  • Forbes has predicted that Crimson Desert will be 2026’s second best-selling game.
  • All the stats and figures point to no other game coming close to it in the 2nd place.
  • Only Rockstar’s behemoth, GTA 6, is expected to eclipse the title in terms of sales.

Crimson Desert is just less than a week away, with the reviews expected a day before the release. However, it has already built up so much hype that it will undoubtedly be a huge financial success, aiming for massive numbers.

A major media outlet already predicts that Crimson Desert will “easily be the second best-selling game of the year’, only trailing behind the obvious GTA 6. No game is expected to come close to Pearl Abyss’s title in the second position.

Why it matters: The final launch trailer released just a couple of days ago and already amassed over 600K views. Additionally, it had already crossed 3 million wishlists 2 weeks before the launch, signalling something big.

Crimson Desert predicted to be the 2nd best-seller of the year

Forbes predicts that all these statistics put Crimson Desert as a solid candidate for the second best-selling game of 2026, beating Resident Evil Requiem and other notable big-name releases of the year.

It seems pretty clear at this point that Crimson Desertis easily going to be the second-best-selling game of 2026. You may quickly realize what #1 is going to be

Paul Tassi says a major reason for that is that most other games releasing this year are exclusives like Pokémon Pokopia and Marvel’s Wolverine, and he doesn’t see Requiem beating it either, despite already selling 5 million units

It was also tipped to win the Game of the Year award

While on paper, the stats and previews do point towards both a financial and critical hit, things could change. Unfortunately, the recent Denuvo controversy affected a lot of fans, and if optimization is bad, sales will fall.

Then there is also the fact that, yes, the previews have been positive, but we don’t currently have complete reviews. But if it does live up to the hype and nail all expectations, it really could become the second biggest game of 2026.
