Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Has Already Been Hailed As GOTY 2025

It Should Win Game of the Decade, Too!

Story Highlight
  • Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is the best game release this year, so far.
  • The game has the highest user rating on Metacritic, which speaks volumes.
  • Just recently, The Game Awards’ official Twitter account asked fans about the GOTY, and the fandom filled over 90% of the comments section with nothing but Expedition 33.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is arguably the best game of 2025, and if anyone says otherwise, then they haven’t played the game. It has the highest user rating on Metacritic for a reason, and that is pretty obvious once you play the game.

This title won the hearts of many instantly after release, and even releases like Oblivion Remastered weren’t able to do any damage to its player count. As the game is delightful, it has already been hailed as the Game of the Year 2025, which is not surprising at all.

Why it matters: 2025 is halfway over, but we already have a solid contender for the most prestigious award. While there are still some solid releases that will be released eventually this year, the arrows are pointing in favour of Expedition 33.

The Game Awards official Twitter account posted on the platform asking about the fandom’s pick for their GOTY. To no one’s surprise, the comments section is filled with people saying Clair Obscur: Expedition 33.

There are a couple of comments saying Death Stranding 2, which doesn’t make sense unless they are from the future and have already played the whole game.

Another remarkable name that appeared in the comments section is Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2. However, over 90% of the comments are just about Expedition 33

One of the commenters even says that if there is a game of the decade category instead of game of the year one, then Expedition 33 should win it. Given how good its boss fights, soundtracks, plot, characters, and world design are, this claim isn’t a reach.

Hopefully, The Game Awards doesn’t disappoint this time and lives up to the expectations. That being said, many games are yet to be released, but it is doubtful that they can surpass Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 in any aspect
