Blood of the Dawnwalker Combines KCD2’s Combat With A Supernatural Touch

Features Direction-Based Combat And Vampiric Abilities!

Story Highlight
  • Blood of Dawnwalker features two different combat modes, during day and night, but are direction-based, similar to KCD 2 and For Honor.
  • Daytime, players will have to rely on their sword skills with minor vampiric abilities.
  • Nightime, there is an option for stealth, and players can use vampiric claws to attack supernatural enemies.

While Witcher 4 is set for a 2027 release, ex-CDPR devs are working on their own fantasy RPG in the meantime, scheduled for a 2026 release. Blood of Dawnwalker is a unique twist on the fantasy RPG formula with the theme “Trapped Between Two Worlds.”

Rebel Wolves have now officially unveiled the first gameplay footage for Blood of Dawnwalker, which primarily focuses on the combat. The game’s combat seems to be quite similar to KCD 2’s, with the added touch of supernatural powers.

Why it matters: KCD 2 has been hailed for its realistic combat that is quite challenging for players. Blood of Dawnwalker will further capitalize on that with the added touch of superpowers, making the combat more exciting.

Blood of Dawnwalker will feature two different gameplay styles that will differ entirely during day and night. In daytime, players will mostly be engaged in fighting human enemies, relying mostly on their swordplay abilities.

The combat system is similar to KCD 2’s or For Honor, where the attack would be direction-based rather than just spam attacking anywhere.

Players can still use their vampiric abilities to some extent, which can range anywhere from boiling enemies’ blood and burning their skin to other normal finishers that involve beheading enemies.

Rebel Wolves May End Up Changing The Concept Of A Protagonist In A Video Game Overall

During nightfall, players will mostly have to rely on stealth, running over rooftops. Still, if the game forces combat in some instances, Cohen can use his sword or his claws to attack enemies, with the latter being more fun. Combat will still be direction-based, though.

Enemy variety also changes, which will mostly include other vampires and occasional boss battles that seem quite tough. During vampire mode, Cohen’s abilities also expand, including dashing, and a plethora of new abilities that completely transform the game from the daytime experience.
