Phantom Blade Zero Appears To Be Another Promising Title!

Story Highlight
  • Black Myth: Wukong has been the biggest release in the Chinese market.
  • S-Game’s CEO believes it ignites a years-long Chinese AAA game revolution.
  • He believes Chinese developers have always wanted to deliver high-quality games but lacked expertise and technology.

Black Myth: Wukong is currently the biggest release of the year and the strongest contender for the GOTY title. It has also become the biggest launch from Chinese developers, selling over 10 million copies just three days after its launch.

However, the Phantom Blade Zero developer stated that the Western market has always influenced Japanese creators but didn’t have the right technology to make such games themselves in the past.

Why it matters: Black Myth: Wukong opened the door to a massive Asian market in the gaming industry, as many promising titles are soon to be released.

During a recent interview with 4Gamer, S-Game’s CEO, Lian Qiwei, believed that the foundation of massive games from Chinese developers had been placed for a really long time.

When S-Game’s vice president, Michael Chang, was asked whether a trigger point made them enter the global console game market, he replied that Chinese developers always wanted to release high-quality games. Still, they didn’t have the technology before.

It’s not like Chinese developers got together and decided to release console games at the same time, but rather, we’ve wanted to make these kinds of games from the beginning.

He further says that now is the exact time when they are finally executing and could finally deliver high-quality games, which they have been wanting to achieve for a really long while.

Lian Qiwei talks about how Chinese developers’ years of experience doing outsourced development work for Western studios have contributed to their high level of expertise and matured them to work on their original titles.

Nonetheless, we believe the Chinese market has done amazing so far. This will bring more competition in the gaming industry, which is great for gamers as more quality games will be released in the coming time.
