The BioShock franchise was once huge, but for the last few years has fallen from grace. It has seen all sorts of issues from leadership problems to game delays and more, and the fans were scared that it might’ve cost the new game in development.

However, Take-Two in its latest report has confirmed that the next BioShock is still in development despite the studio turmoil. Earlier reports claimed that it had been delayed or might’ve even been cancelled.

Why it matters: BioShock has seen a very shaky last few years, but when the rumors of the next game in the franchise started emerging, long-term fans were once again hopeful.

Take-Two’s quarterly report confirms that the next BioShock is still in development.

Thankfully, Take-Two’s latest Quarterly Report confirms that BioShock 4 is indeed still in active development, amidst fear that it has been cancelled. The fear was generated by the BioShock 1 remake getting cancelled earlier this year.

In August 2025, Cloud Chamber was hit with layoffs that even led to the Diablo boss taking over as the head of the studio. We don’t really know how the morale is at the studio right now, but it’s good to find out this new development.
