The Game Is Inspired By The Pinnacles Of The Franchise!

Story Highlight
  • EA executives claim that Battlefield 6 is the spiritual successor of the series’ best works, BF 3 and 4, because of its modern setting.
  • Battlefield 6 matches the quality of the series’ best, as EA aims to surpass their legacy.
  • The game’s reception is mainly positive, but many fans want to try the open beta before making a final judgment.

After the failure of Battlefield 2042, EA seemingly recognized that their next game is the last shot at securing a safe future for the franchise. The studios involved with the FPS have gone back to the drawing board to create the best FPS possible.

Now, EA executives are claiming that Battlefield 6 is directly inspired by the best works of the series, Battlefield 3 and 4. In other words, the game’s modern setting and quality will match or surpass the standard that fans have loved in the past.

Why it matters: Battlefield 6 draws inspiration from the series’ best titles, aiming to build on their legacy and rival Call of Duty.

Battlefield
Battlefield 6 is aiming to reinvigorate the exhausted franchise and fans for good.

In a GamesRadar interview, VP Christian Grass said Battlefield 3 and 4 are the franchise’s peak, inspiring creative director Thomas Andersson to craft a spiritual successor.

Battlefield 3 and 4. […] We love those games. It’s sort of, you know, the pinnacle, maybe, of Battlefield.

We can already see Battlefield 6 returning to the series’ roots by focusing on destruction and the series’ popular class system, a move that has already satisfied many fans. Therefore, we will get to experience classes like Engineer, Support, and Recon like the glory days.

We wanted to go modern. We haven’t been modern for a long time, so that is kind of part of it.

Battlefield 6
The Battlefield 6 trailer is more popular than the COD: Black Ops 7 one in terms of likes.

Battlefield 6 is aiming to stay more grounded by having realistic skins, unlike Call of Duty. Additionally, the game has ditched the mandatory EA app requirement for Steam players.

The game will have an open beta from August 9 to 10 and August 14 to 17, with EA expecting to release the FPS on October 10 for PC and current-gen consoles.

Do you think Battlefield 6 will surpass the legacy left behind by BF 3 and 4, or is this just PR talk by EA executives? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
