Goal Is To Attract Max Players Simultaneously!

Story Highlight
  • Battlefield 6 devs confirm the game will use AI bots to populate servers.
  • The main intent of using bots is to ensure maximum players at the same time.
  • Battlefield 6 won’t have a server browser either, making things harder for players.

EA plans to mark a solid return to the FPS genre with Battlefield 6, which is looking to be the series’ most ambitious release to date. Fans are generally pleased with the first look at the game; however, the lack of some features has left even veteran fans quite annoyed.

Unfortunately, Battlefield 6 won’t feature a server browser. Instead, EA plans to use AI bots to fill servers with not enough players

Why it matters: The general consensus against bots in multiplayer games has always been quite negative. They’re not challenging at all and take the competitive nature out of the multiplayer games.

UE5 Is Too Much Of A Generic Engine To Be Used For Games Like Battlefield

Talking with GNN, Battlefield 6 developers confirmed that the game will be utilizing AI bots. One developer specifically added that bots will help novice players hone their skills and abilities via Battlefield Portal.

However, the main intent of adding bots was to ensure a larger player count for the game, as per the development director.

The purpose of our game design is to allow as many players as possible to play the game at the same time.

Battlefield 6 will still try to prioritize human players over bots, with AI being kicked off as more players join. Still, bots will potentially ruin player experience since playing against AI has never been fun.

EA Wants Battlefield 6 To Reach 100 Million Players

AI bots were introduced in Battlefield 2042 and the lack of a server browser is also another thing being carried off from the last release. Had there have been a server browser, there would be no need to fill servers with bots since players would just join populated matches first.

Server browser is still available but retained for Battlefield Portal only, a platform where players can create custom game modes etc.
