- Battlefield 6’s open beta has been so successful that it has surpassed the peak concurrent players of Black Ops 6.
- Riding that momentum, EA now seems to be capitalizing on the hype by rolling out a major update for Battlefield 2042.
- The update may include a new map, new weapons, new vault vehicles, and Pax Armata-themed cosmetics.
Battlefield 6’s open beta has been met with overwhelmingly positive reception. It impressed fans enough to secure a wave of pre-orders, a remarkable turnaround considering many players were hesitant after the disaster that was Battlefield 2042.
On Steam alone, the game has already racked up over 605,000 pre-orders, making it a massive success before launch. EA, however, seems keen to capitalize on this momentum, as it’s now reportedly rolling out a major update for the last entry in the series.
Why it matters: If the developer manages to improve the game by a lot and add some much-requested features, the fandom may want to give it a try before Battlefield 6 releases.
A dataminer on X, formerly known as Twitter, has revealed that Battlefield 2042 may be getting a surprisingly big update soon. The user has also suggested that this could be the final update.
According to the dataminer, the update will introduce a new map, Iwo Jima, along with new weapons such as The Prototype (Riverdweller), KFS2000 (FN F2000), and GM6 Lynx. It will also add new vault vehicles, including the A-10 Warthog and the SU-25TM Frogfoot. Also, there will be Pax Armata-themed cosmetics.
The dataminer has also shown the description of the Pax Armata cosmetics from the datamined bundle.
A new way of warfare has been born, and that requires soldiers trained for the task. Pax Armata intends to change the world – will you join their ranks or become one of the conquered?

As Battlefield 6 is set to release in less than two months, this new massive update is likely to be added to 2042 pretty soon.
