  • Atomfall’s lead designer, Ben Fisher, says that the survival-action entry will feature experimental mechanics that are bonkers.
  • These mechanics can have a huge influence on the game’s world and the gameplay, affecting enemy populations and more.
  • Atomfall is also expected to be pretty challenging. It will launch on March 27 for PC, last-gen, and current-gen consoles.

2025 is filled with exciting releases spanning across various genres and fandoms alike. Among them, Atomfall is one of the most anticipated games because of its catchy post-apocalyptic yet vibrant visuals and survival-action nature.

Atomfall reimagines Britain’s dreaded Windscale nuclear disaster, where you have to scavenge, craft, barter, fight, and talk your way through to survive. The game’s lead designer, Ben Fisher, says this is not all Atomfall has to offer.

In a new interview, Ben clarifies that Atomfall will feature unique ‘bonkers’ mechanics that can shift the gameplay around you. These events can have a ‘huge’ influence on the game’s world.

Why it matters: Atomfall might just replace our carving for the next mainline Fallout game with its stellar visuals and post-apocalyptic gameplay filled with enemies ranging from cultists, cryptids, and mechs alike.

There’s some bonkers in Atomfall. There’s events the player can trigger or completely miss that can have a huge influence on enemy population in the game world.

Since this is Rebellion’s new IP, the developers have gone full-in to tinker with world-changing features that other games in the genre often avoid. This is the same studio that crafted the highly renowned Sniper Elite franchise.

Atomfall is also going to be a pretty challenging experience, according to the designer. ‘The high-intensity experience’ will keep ‘you on edge’ throughout the playthrough.
