Assassin’s Creed Shadows DLC Claws Of Awaji Debuts To Mostly Negative Reviews on Steam

A Bug Is Keeping Most Players Away From Accessing The DLC!

Story Highlight
  • Assassin’s Creed Shadows DLC recently released to mostly negative reviews on Steam.
  • Fans complain that most of them can’t even reach the point where Claws of Awaji starts.
  • Players are frustrated that they spent so much money and can’t even access new content.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows launched in March 2025 as a last resort to save Ubisoft from going bankrupt. While the studio couldn’t completely pull itself out of trouble, the title did quite well with decent reviews, and now the DLC is out.

Ubisoft released the first Assassin’s Creed Shadows DLC, Claws of Awaji, a few hours ago and quickly garnered a lot of attention, but not for the right reasons. The expansion has debuted to ‘Mostly Negative’ reviews on Steam.

Why it matters: There was a lot of controversy around the base game, mainly due to the wrong representation of Japanese culture; however, with the DLC, the early negative reviews are mostly due to some technical errors.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows DLC received mostly negative reviews on Steam

The Assassin’s Creed Shadows DLC received mostly negative reviews on Steam, mostly because players can’t seem to access the new content at all. They reach the point where the DLC is supposed to start, but then nothing happens.

This is rather annoying for those who spent so much money on the game, especially for the Deluxe Edition. And rightfully so, fans are angry at this. They spent so much time beating the main game, but the DLC was inaccessible at launch.

Most players can’t even seem to access the DLC

One of the players who was able to access the game says that the content on offer is fun and adds to the experience. However, to reach the point, they had to delete and then download the whole game again, which is over 140 GB.

This really shouldn’t be the case, as it is a paid expansion, and fans would expect no hurdles and value for their money. Ubisoft will undoubtedly fix this issue, but for now, it has become a nuisance for the fans.
