- Ubisoft announced a strategic reset that led to a massive restructure across the publisher.
- They’ve also delayed the remake of Assassin’s Creed Black Flag as part of the new operating model.
- The remake is now expected before FY 2027.
Ubisoft was supposed to start 2026 off with a banger, releasing the Prince of Persia: Sands of Time remake, followed by an Assassin’s Creed: Black Flag remake a few weeks later.
Unfortunately, the Sands of Time remake has been cancelled, and the Black Flag remake has been delayed by up to a year by Ubisoft.
Why it matters: Assassin’s Creed Black Flag is a fan-favourite, often considered as one of the best in the series. As such, a remake was highly anticipated by fans, but unfortunately, they won’t be seeing it anytime soon.

Ubisoft announced its strategic reset with a new press release, and one portion reads out:
the Group will allocate additional development time to 7 games in
order. This includes the unannounced title initially planned for FY26, that
has been delayed to FY27.
Overall, summarizing today’s events, Ubisoft has closed down 2 studios, shelved 6 games, and delayed 7 of its upcoming games. Out of the slate of the upcoming games, only one ‘uannounced’ game was planned for FY 2026 but has now been delayed to FY 2027.
Assassin’s Creed Black Flag best fits the description for this ‘unannounced title’ as it was scheduled for a release around March 2026, which is just a couple of months before FY 2026 ends in June.

The reason behind the delay is to ensure a quality release for fans as Ubisoft moves towards a gamer-centric company. Ubisoft Forward is expected to return this year, and we can hope for an Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced reveal then.
Also, it is notable to mention that a delay to FY 2027 means that it can release at anytime from June 2026-2027, but don’t expect it to stretch into next year since insiders already state that it’s close to completion. At best, expect a late 2026 release for the game.
