Alone in the Dark To Include 60FPS Mode At Launch

Alone in the Dark is one of the oldest survival horror franchises, and a remake of the franchise’s first game has been in the works for a while.

The developers have recently elaborated on the game’s length, revealing it would require around 20 hours to complete. Following this reveal, THQ Nordic has confirmed a 60FPS mode for Alone in the Dark.

Why it matters: 60FPS is the new standard for consoles. Nearly every game released in 2023 features a mode for 60FPS, and gamers have begun to expect this addition for every game.

Alone In The Dark 60 FPS

During a recent interview with Gamingbolt, Andreas Schmiedecker from THQ Nordic was asked about a potential 60FPS target for Alone in The Dark. The Associate Producer replied:

“We’re currently targeting a 60 FPS performance mode with variable resolution.”

This is undoubtedly exciting for Alone in The Dark fans. A performance mode with a higher frame rate will make the game feel more responsive and smoother, improving the much-anticipated horror title.

Additionally, the studio confirmed a 4K resolution target for quality mode. Unsurprisingly, this would require a 30FPS lock, but the gain in visual fidelity will likely be worth it for users who do not care much about frame rates.

As such, THQ Nordic is targeting both audiences, providing the option to pick between high frame rates or improved visual fidelity.

The game will be available on PC and current-gen consoles. THQ Nordic is yet to confirm the exact resolution targets for performance mode, and it also remains to be seen how well the Xbox Series S will handle the performance mode at launch.

Previously, various games have made significant compromises with the Xbox Series S version, but fans can only wait for more information to learn about THQ Nordic’s approach with Alone in the Dark.
