Cyberpunk 2077 was one of the most hyped releases of the last generation; the game was revealed seven years before its launch. After CD Projekt Red built a solid reputation with the success of The Witcher 3, many were expecting Cyberpunk to be another masterpiece from the developers. However, the game did not even come close to living up to the expectations at launch; the game was buggy and unplayable. The game was even pulled from PlayStation Network, and all platforms made sure to refund users if they found the game unplayable.

To CDPR’s credit, they have been busy fixing and updating the game. Since its release, the game has seen countless patches. These updates have helped iron out the bugs and performance issues. While the game is still far from where it needs to be, it has come a long way since its release. The game received its long-awaited next-gen patch not too long ago. The patch added features like Ray Tracing, a Higher refresh rate, and more resolution options.

In addition to the current updates, we could also be seeing the most requested; third-person mode makes its way into the game. The speculation stems from a job listing at CDPR. The job listing states that CDPR is looking for a “Camera Programmer.” The job description says, “CD PROJEKT RED Vancouver is looking for a programmer with experience in developing real-time third-person perspective cameras.” The listing also states that the employee would be responsible for creating a camera that responds intuitively to player inputs. Furthermore, another listing shows that CDPR is also looking to hire character artists for Cyberpunk 2077.

This leads us to believe that Cyberpunk could have a third-person update coming shortly. Currently, the game is based entirely on a first-person perspective. However, third-person gameplay isn’t nonexistent in the game. Driving, a significant part of the game, can be experienced in the third person. Before launch, the announcement that CDPR would be going for a first-person approach with Cyberpunk was shocking. A first-person game was uncharted territory for CDPR, and many fans were concerned about how it would turn out. Perhaps, the developers are now looking to return to their field of expertise. We have also seen a similar update with Grand Theft Auto 5 in the past, where Rockstar added a first-person mode into the game.

It would be wise to take this with a grain of salt, as with any such news. The developers have made no official announcement. CD Projekt RED has been relatively quiet about the game’s future, and many players are likely looking forward to what is coming next for the game.

Recently, the game went on sale for as low as $5 at BestBuy, the game has also received a playable trial for consoles, and it seems like the developers have been trying their best to grow the game’s player base after the disappointing launch.
