Due to its sheer scale, Crimson Desert is one of the most anticipated titles of 2026. The game’s map is expected to be twice the size of those in other open-world titles such as Red Dead Redemption 2 and Skyrim.
Players have been trying to figure out how long it will take to finish all the activities in Crimson Desert’s world, but even the game’s developers are not sure about that fact.
Why it matters: Crimson Desert’s open world is showing a lot of promise, with its gigantic map giving players a flurry of side quests that they can invest in even after finishing the story.
While talking to Destin Legarie, Crimson Desert PR director Will Powers revealed that it is impossible to put a number on how many hours you can spend in the game. The developer at Pearl Abyss stated that the only thing he can say with certainty is that the title is “huge.”
If I give any number, I am wrong. I’ve been consistent; I will not give a number to this game. This game is massive, though. The main campaign is only a very small percentage of the overall content.
Powers further explained that the main campaign is only a small percentage of Crimson Desert’s content. For the PR director, the action-adventure game opened up significantly after he finished it; he spent 50 hours on side quests afterwards, not counting activities like fishing.
According to Will Powers, Crimson Desert has so many areas in the map that players will realize they have barely scratched the surface of the title, and a deep customization system will engage those who have finished it.
Pearl Abyss previously revealed that Crimson Desert’s main story alone will take up to 80 hours to beat. Hence, when you add hundreds of hours of side content to this, the game is certainly shaping up to be a handful.
