- Delta Force: Black Hawk Down campaign launched to ‘mixed’ reviews on Steam despite players’ anticipation.
- The campaign has been disliked for its poor performance and optimization, buggy gameplay, and excessive cheating.
- The reviews could see improvement after a massive day-one patch and subsequent updates address these concerns.
Delta Force’s release last year was met with scrutiny from fans because it’s a highly regarded series that recently saw its first game after a decade. While the free-to-play multiplayer part is enjoyable despite mixed reviews, fans were hoping for much more with its new campaign.
Unfortunately, the Delta Force: Black Hawk Down campaign has also launched to mixed reviews on Steam, with hundreds of players voicing concerns about a motley of issues.
Why it matters: The campaign was touted as one of the best upcoming shooter experiences this year, but so far, it has failed to satisfy players’ love for the franchise.
The game’s sloppy AI, bad performance, and lousy gameplay choices have turned the highly anticipated campaign into a disappointment for many.
Despite promises of minimal cutscenes and maximum gameplay, Black Hawk Down is full of unsatisfied players who can’t play the first-person shooter for long. There’s a lot of lag involved, and players have gone as far as to tell others to save their 30 GB space instead of getting it.
For those not in the know, the campaign features co-op elements. As such, the experience is also riddled with cheaters if you can get beyond the performance and optimization concerns.
Elsewhere, the off-putting animations of NPCs and stale dialogue interactions have caused players to review the free-to-play campaign negatively. So far, the developers have not addressed these pointers.
The Delta Force: Black Hawk Down campaign came out on February 21, 2025, for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and PC. Unfortunately, it does not appear to be the follow-up fans had hoped for.
