Setting High Target After Initial Success!

Story Highlight
  • Stalker 2 has currently sold over a million units and recouped development costs.
  • The team believes it can eventually move past the $1 billion target.
  • This will be made possible through future DLC and releases on other platforms.

Stalker 2 has already been quite a success for GSC Game World. Despite a shaky development, the first-person shooter has recouped its development costs and has been nominated for various awards.

As per a recent interview, GSC Game World is only getting started. The team even believes highly ambitious targets are achievable, having faith that $1 billion in revenue with this release is a real possibility.

Why it matters: Very few AAA franchises are worth $1 billion today. The team’s confidence in such a huge milestone shows its faith in Stalker 2 and its determination to achieve great heights.

The GSC Game World owner Maksym Krippa was recently asked whether Stalker 2 could break past the $1 billion barrier. His response was certainly interesting, highlighting confidence in the team’s work.

We think we can meet, and even exceed, even the wildest of forecasts.

He noted that this is possible since Stalker 2 has yet to receive future DLC. As per Maksym Krippa, the game will be released on other platforms in the future, setting the stage for additional success.

The GSC Game World owner also hopes to work with Netflix on a Stalker 2 adaptation. With all of these things combined, he believes the game has a real shot of achieving the highest of targets, even if $1 billion sounds a bit far-fetched for now.
