- Recent rumors hint at delays for next-gen GPU lineups, including Blackwell, RDNA 4, and Intel Battlemage series.
- AMD’s focus on midrange options and Nvidia’s hesitation to confirm GeForce RTX 50 series launch dates have created ambiguity.
- All GPU lineups could now be launched in early 2025 instead of late 2024.
The most recent rumors about GPU delays, including Blackwell, RDNA 4, and Intel Battlemage, may be somewhat of a letdown to users eagerly awaiting the release of next-generation graphics cards.
After conversing with business representatives during their visit to Computex, Tweakers have shared rather interesting information regarding the launch of next-generation graphics cards, which were anticipated to launch this year.
It looks like neither the Radeon RX 8000 nor the Intel Arc Battlemage series will be released this year. Tweakers has now also published an article stating that Nvidia GPUs are not anticipated to arrive this year, either.
Why it matters: While Nvidia typically launches graphics cards at the end of any given year, recent rumors have been unable to pinpoint the dates of its next generation.
The news about RDNA 4 is quite surprising, assuming it’s genuine. Still, we weren’t anticipating Battlemage until early 2025. Tweakers emphasizes that AMD’s next-generation products will focus on midrange options.
This is no surprise since rumors have already stated AMD would skip competition at the highest end during the next generation. Meanwhile, during the Computex press conference, the Nvidia CEO did not provide an official release date for the RTX 50 series.
Interestingly, the report did not imply an announcement would be made in 2025. Therefore, there is still the chance that Nvidia will unveil the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 this year, followed by the launch in 2025.
As noted by the report, it would make sense for Nvidia to choose a 2025 launch.
The company has no reason to fear competition from AMD and Intel. If anything, the others launching their GPUs in 2025 give Nvidia even more reason to follow suit and do the same.
Currently, the AI giant has become even bigger than Apple. Therefore, gaming is now such a small part of its business that it can certainly take the back seat. With AI becoming the first priority, a 2025 launch for the next-gen series is not too far-fetched.
