NVIDIA’s H100 GPU has become a substantial asset for companies like Meta. However, Tesla and Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence startup, xAI, are just as interested in the technology.
Therefore, we don’t find Elon Musk’s latest statement surprising. According to the Twitter CEO, Tesla is Nvidia’s second largest customer when it comes to H100 AI GPUs.
Why it matters: Tesla has always strived to introduce innovations like self-driving and smart features in automobiles and other departments. Therefore, Nvidia’s GPUs are crucial for its future.

In response to @thetechbrother on X, who stated that Meta had more than 350,000 NVIDIA H100 AI GPUs, Elon Musk confirmed Tesla’s involvement in the sector.
He pointed out that the visual did not show Tesla’s position correctly since the company should be ranked much higher.
If assessed accurately,Tesla would rank second.

Considering that Meta now possesses more than 350,000 NVIDIA H100 AI GPUs, Tesla, the industry leader in electric vehicles, would have between 30,000 and 350,000 H100 AI GPUs if it were in second place.
Having as many as 30,000 H100 AI GPUs, Lambda is positioned as the second biggest buyer on the chart. However, as of right now, we have confirmation from Elon Musk that Tesla has the second position.
Previously, Elon Musk praised Nvidia’s hardware and confirmed intentions to invest in it further. Nvidia’s innovative technology debuted in Blackwell now makes it appealing for all those involved in the industry.
He has also confirmed a $500 million investment in the company’s Dojo super-computer.
Furthermore, Musk has gathered personnel from OpenAI, the University of Toronto, and other sources to develop his artificial intelligence company from the ground up. Therefore, xAI acquired about 10K Nvidia GPUs last year.
Being the second-largest H100 owner is no small feat. However, the H100 GPUs are quickly becoming obsolete after the recent announcement of the GB200 Grace Blackwell Superchip, which combines two Blackwell B100 GPUs with one Arms-based Grace CPU.
Therefore, we expect Musk to set his sights on Nvidia’s GB200 GPUs next.
