Assassin’s Creed Mirage Will Not Feature XP-Based Levels

Level Grinding Will Not Return!

Ubisoft is gearing up for a new Assassin’s Creed after nearly three years. Assassin’s Creed Mirage is expected to release in October, with Ubisoft paying homage to classic games through a returning focus on stealth and parkour.

The gaming giant is also introducing a blue filter, making Mirage similar to the first Assassin’s Creed title’s aesthetic. Furthermore, Ubisoft is returning to the classic leveling system, ditching XP-based progression.

Why it matters: The RPG Assassin’s Creed franchise has used XP for character progression. While this system has worked for those games, Mirage’s classic approach may have clashed with this progression system.

While a lot of details about the game have been revealed, Creative Director Stephane Boudon stated:

“There’s no XP-based progression in Mirage. Instead, progression is linear and story-driven.”

Basim’s rank in the brotherhood will grow as players beat various missions. This will also unlock new tools and missions.

Previously, leveling was a massive focus in the RPG Assassin’s Creed trilogy. Each enemy had a set level, making them unstoppable if players were too far below those levels. This meant that players had to think about their levels at all times.

Side quests were also extremely important, allowing players to level up before story missions. However, this system also received criticism, with players claiming they were often forced to grind for higher levels.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage will not run into these issues. Furthermore, the game has also revisited another fan-favorite feature with the outfit dyes, allowing players to customize Basim’s outfit.

Assassin’s Creed Mirage will take players through Basim’s evolutionary journey from apprentice to master assassin. Ubisoft has introduced new tools for Basim that can be customized and upgraded to make him a deadly assassin.
