Elden Ring Nightreign Doesn’t Have The Legendary Miyazaki At Its Helm

"George R.R. Wasn't Involved In Writing The Story"

Story Highlight
  • Elden Ring Nighreign was a surprise reveal during TGA 2024.
  • Since then, a lot of information regarding the title has been revealed, including that Miyazaki isn’t at its helm.
  • Instead, he assigned the game to Jnuya Ishizaki, who has plenty of experience in this genre.

FromSoftware surprised its fandom by revealing Elden Ring Nighreign during The Game Award 2024. No one expected the developer to announce a spin-off to the much-loved Souls title after receiving a massive expansion.

However, the developer had different plans and wanted to spoil its fandom. While the fandom is hyped, there have been concerns regarding the game being a live service, but it has already been confirmed that it will be a one-time purchase, so fans shouldn’t worry about such things.

Another concern has now surfaced, as Miyazaki isn’t directly involved in the title

Why it matters: The Souls fandom trusts Hidetaka Miyazaki a lot, as this man always delivers. So, this legendary figure not being at the helm is causing some concerns.

The Upcoming Elden Ring Spin-Off Doesn’t Have Miyazaki Or George R.R. Martin At Its Centre

IGN Japan recently interviewed Junya Ishizaki about the upcoming Elden Ring spin-off. During the interview, Ishizaki was asked about Miyazaki’s involvement in the game. He revealed that Miyazaki was only involved until the conception point

Miyazaki was involved up until the creation of the initial concept for ELDEN RING NIGHTREIGN. Since then, he has left it all to me.

Ishizaki further revealed that he is leading the development of the game as the director. Some fans have expressed concerns, but there is no need to worry, as he is no stranger to developing a Souls game

Ishizaki has worked extensively on FromSoftware games, so he knows what he is doing; after all, Miyazaki left him in charge. It should also be noted that George R.R. Maritn wasn’t involved in the writing, either, so don’t expect to see some messed-up scenarios like in the base game.

The interview further reveals that there are no plans to include battle royale or PvEvP modes. Also, there will be a playable character with a primary mechanic of using Spirit Ashes.

All in all, Junya Ishizaki being the game’s centre isn’t a concern as he is highly experienced in this genre.
