Story Highlight
  • Insider Kurakasis has revealed that the undisclosed Star Wars game has a title that ends in “The Old Republic.”
  • Hence, players are predicting that this announcement could be about the Star Wars: The Knights of the Old Republic remake.
  • Some fans also think this leak could relate to the rumored Total War: Star Wars title.

The gaming community has been in speculation mode ever since insider Kurakasis leaked that a major Star Wars game announcement is forthcoming.

The leaker didn’t give much detail besides hinting that this reveal has nothing to do with previously known titles such as Star Wars: Zero or Eclipse. But, as it turns out, this major announcement could be about the most anticipated title among the Star Wars fandom.

Why It Matters: The Knights of the Old Republic remake has been in development for ages, so finally seeing it in action would be a massive win for fans.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Fans are hopeful that Kurakasis is hinting at the Knights of the Old Republic remake.

Kurakasis added more fuel to his rumor on X, stating that the mystery Star Wars game has a name that ends in “The Old Republic,” and fans predict that he is teasing the remake of Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic.

First announced back in 2021 by Aspyr, the remake of the BioWare RPG was set to be a timed PS5 console exclusive with an intended release for 2022. But the project fell into development hell afterwards, with Sony even removing social media posts relating to its appearance at the PlayStation Showcase.

Despite insiders claiming that the Knights of the Old Republic remake is officially dead, new developer Saber Interactive has insisted that work on the game is continuing in private. Hence, there is a chance that the studio finally has something to show for the RPG’s remake.

Fans are also predicting that this secret Star Wars game announcement could be the rumored Total War collaboration with The Creative Assembly, as the studio is set to announce its most glamorous entry at The Game Awards.

The Knights of the Old Republic Remake
The remake has been in development since 2021.

However, that is just speculation, and all we know for sure is that the Old Republic era is set to feature in Star Wars video games again, hopefully in the form of a remake fans have been waiting a long time for.
