The Blood Of Dawnwalker Aiming For Same Quality As The Witcher 3 But Scale Will Be Smaller

We Can Expect A 30-40 Hour Campaign!

Story Highlight
  • Rebel Wolves is aiming to achieve the same quality as The Witcher 3 for its new vampire RPG, The Blood of Dawnwalker.
  • The game’s creative director says that the upcoming project will be of AAA quality but on a smaller scale.
  • The campaign for the RPG is expected to last 30 to 40 hours only, compared to over 100+ hours in The Witcher 3.

The RPG genre is chock-full of excellent releases, but The Witcher 3 has stood out to be a golden benchmark most studios try to compete against. The Blood of Dawnwalker is no different; the new vampire RPG by former CDPR developers is seeking tough competition.

Now, the game’s creative director, Mateusz Tomaszkiewicz claims their upcoming project will match The Witcher 3’s quality, though on a smaller scale.

Why it matters: The Blood of Dawnwalker aims to compete with one of the RPG genre’s best examples, The Witcher 3. However, the studio acknowledges it will be a much smaller game.

The Blood of Dawnwalker
The Blood of Dawnwalker developers originally left CDPR because they had crazy ideas.

In an interview with GamesRadar, Mateusz mentions that The Blood of Dawnlwaker aims to provide a jam-packed The Witcher 3-like experience locked behind a 30 to 40-hour campaign. Rebel Wolves doesn’t care what label The Blood of Dawnwalker is shoved into.

we definitely look at AAA, because this is where we are coming from, the quality level of The Witcher 3.

The game is aiming to be an AAA-scaled experience in terms of quality to compete with The Witcher 3 but with a much smaller AA length. The team is more tightly knit since the studio founder believes a smaller team is capable of doing more

we want to build something as robust in terms of quality, maybe a bit shorter.

On the flip side, CPDR has welcomed this friendly competition by showing support for The Blood of Dawnwalker against unwarranted toxic rivalry propelled by gamers online.

The Blood of Dawnwalker Everything We Know
The game features a unique protagonist that may change the concept of MCs in games.

The Blood of Dawnwalker is being built using Unreal Engine 5 and will launch for PC and consoles. The release date is currently unknown.

Do you think The Blood of Dawnwalker will be able to deliver a Witcher 3-like experience despite being a much shorter entry in scale? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
