- A team of modders is developing a PC-exclusive PvE co-op mod for Marvel’s Spider-Man.
- Up to 16 players can join a single lobby at a time. It will also be ported to Spider-Man 2 in the future.
- Some main story missions already work with the mod, but the devs are currently working on free-roam content.
Marvel’s Spider-Man’s emergence on PC succeeded, and PC players enjoyed the cinematic story. Unsurprisingly, many users took advantage of modding and turned the game into beautiful or equally wacky ventures.
Now, a team of modders is trying to bring back a huge feature that the developers scrapped during development. Modders are currently working on a PvE co-op mod for Spider-Man that will only be released for PC players.
Why it matters: The PC modding community continues to do the dirty work for actual developers. Hence, fans are thrilled and showing plenty of support for this project.
The Spider-Man Multiplayer trailer uploaded on YouTube mostly showcases cinematic sequences and reveals additional information. Unfortunately, PvP is not an option that will be available, and up to 16 players can join a single lobby at a time.
Some main story content already works well with the mod, but the rest will be developed further down the line. As of now, the team is focused on tinkering with free-roam content to make exploring the main city a fun experience.
You can invite the players via a Steam invite, or they can add the host’s IP to join a lobby that way. The modders also plan to port the mod to Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 once Insomniac Games releases it for PC on January 30, 2025.
It’s certainly an exciting mod, and many players will be looking to experience the world of Spider-Man with their friends. Maybe Insomniac Games will officially add this mod to the game, just like some mods are officially added to Cyberpunk 2077.
Do you think the PvE mod will completely rejuvenate Marvel’s Spider-Man for PC players who prefer more of a co-op experience? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the official Tech4Gamers forum.
