A Huge Payday Waiting For Any Talented Hacker Out There!

Story Highlight
  • Riot Games is offering up to $100k bounty to find exploits in its Vanguard anti-cheat.
  • The anti-cheat is used in Valorant and League of Legends, and both of them are rife with cheating.
  • The participants will be rewarded based on the severity of the exploits that they find, with the least being $250.

Riot Games boasts some of the biggest live-service games in the FPS and MOBA genres, namely Valorant and League of Legends. Both popular titles have stood out for their longevity and fun gameplay, but they’re also notorious for having many cheaters.

Now, the studio is offering up to $100k bounty to find any hidden exploits in Vanguard anti-cheat.

Why it matters: Riot Games offering up to $100k bounty to discover various levels of exploits in Vanguard could ultimately lead to a smoother gameplay experience for Valorant and League of Legends players.

Both Valorant and League of Legends have had a hard time dealing with cheaters despite the Vanguard anti-cheat.

In a new listing on Hackerone, Riot Games wants you to discover vulnerabilities that can potentially be exploited—but you’re not allowed to reveal them to anyone else. The studio is now offering huge cash rewards for anyone who can find it within Vanguard’s kernel-level driver.

If you’re able to help us protect our players and their data by responsibly identifying new security issues for us to fix, you are awesome and we want to reward you.

A similar listing by Riot Games was also reported 4 years ago. Regardless, participants need to consider a lot of nuances before accepting the bounty—such as the level and type of exploit that they find—to be rewarded accordingly.

Riot Games was also hacked last year, causing a lot of damage in the process.

The minimum reward that any hacker can hope to earn is $250, with the amount ramping up from there based on how huge the exploit is.

Do you think this hefty sum will inspire people to hunt down exploits in Valorant and League of Legends or will cheating always stay a concern for Riot Games? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the official Tech4Gamers forum.
