Requiem Is A Continuation Of Leon's Narrative In The Remakes, As Per Apostolides.

Story Highlight
  • Resident Evil Requiem is not the conclusion of Leon’s arc in the franchise, according to the character’s voice actor.
  • Nick Apostolides stated that Leon was brought back to continue the momentum built up from his appearance in the remakes.
  • Requiem is a continuation of his narrative in the present day, not a conclusion.

Resident Evil Requiem has exceeded all expectations so far, garnering critical acclaim from all corners of the gaming world while selling 5 million copies in just as many days, becoming the fastest-selling title in the franchise

Arguably, one of the biggest reasons for this overwhelming success is the return of Leon Kennedy to the series. The character’s inclusion helped Resident Evil Requiem become the perfect blend of action and horror, and if Leon’s voice actor is to be believed, the character is set to return in future entries of the franchise.

Why It Matters: Leon is a primary cause for Resident Evil’s popularity. Hence, his returning to the series in future installments makes complete sense.

Leon’s return created much-needed anticipation for Resident Evil Requiem.

In a new interview with GamesRadar, Leon Kennedy’s voice actor, Nick Apostolides, confirmed that Resident Evil Requiem isn’t the end of the character’s storyline in the series.

I think there’d just been so much momentum with Resident Evil 2 Remake and 4 Remake, his story, his arc. And they just wanted to, not complete it, but just continue that arc and find out where he is now in current day.”

While talking about the character’s storyline, Leon’s voice actor revealed that Capcom wanted to bring him back to continue the narrative that has been in motion since the Resident Evil 2 remake. Hence, the purpose of Leon’s homecoming wasn’t to complete his arc, but to resume it in the modern day.

Apostolides further stated that it made complete sense to feature Leon in Resident Evil Requiem, as the title centers on Raccoon City. However, the game isn’t a resolution to his storyline, but instead ties into the narrative that has been gaining momentum in the remakes.

Due to the overwhelming praise the sequel has received so far, Capcom has already put the 10th Resident Evil title into production in addition to a DLC for Requiem. Therefore, it could only be a matter of time before we see Leon Kennedy return to action.
