Estimates Based On Wishlists!

Story Highlight
  • New report suggests that Take-Two is projecting 18-20 million sales for GTA 6 in the first 24 hours of launch.
  • This estimation is based on wishlists on the Xbox Store and PSN.
  • Another analyst previously predicted 85 million sales for the game in just 60 days.

With Rockstar finally settling on a solid release date for GTA 6, we’re just 7 months away from getting our hands on the game. Being the most-awaited release in history, fans and publishers both have some serious expectations for the game.

To put a little perspective on the publisher’s anticipations for the game, an insider has shared an internal sales forecast for the game. According to him, Take-Two projects 18-20 million sales for GTA 6 just on the day of its launch.

Why it matters: 20 million copies sold is a feat not easily achieved, and even the most successful AAA games take years to reach this level.

According to insider Millie A, this sales forecast projection is wishlist data from PSN and the Microsoft Store alongside retail pre-orders.

Now, for a game like GTA 6, selling this many copies is not an unrealistic goal. For comparison, GTA 5 sold a bit over 11 million copies on its launch day, and that was more than a decade ago.

Since then, gaming has soared significantly in popularity, and combined with the hype for this entry, a 20 million sales goal might be achievable

Previously, another analyst shared their two cents on the sale projections, which came down to a whopping 85 million sales in just 60 days. The revenue estimate is $7.6 billion, with the game priced at $80, contrary to rumors of a $100 price.

With only 7 months left until launch, Rockstar could ramp up marketing for the game any time soon. We’ve yet to see any official footage of the game so far, which has raised doubts that the game might get delayed, but Strauss Zelnick is pretty confident in its planned release, and as far as tradition goes, Rockstar has never missed a confirmed release date.
