Story Highlight
  • A new gameplay deep dive for Ghost of Yotei was showcased at its own dedicated State of Play.
  • The sequel features new weaponry, an interrogation system, and a bounty hunting mechanic.
  • There are also three different modes offering different and unique visual effects.

PlayStation’s first-party release might be looking dry, but Ghost of Yotei will make up for the quantity with its quality.

The upcoming title had the privilege of receiving its own State of Play with a full presentation and gameplay deep dive. The sequel has expanded much with new weapons, abilities, features, and game modes.

Why it matters: Sucker Punch Studios had lots of expectations to look forward to after the success of Ghost of Tsushima. Following this presentation, they might even exceed expectations.

Aside from the ramped-up visuals and an entirely new open-world set in the Ezo region, the game brings tons of new features.

For starters, a new Clue System has been introduced in the game that brings upon new adventures. Interrogating an enemy, players have three options that each lead to a different type of mission, offering various rewards.

Atsu can also engage in bounty hunting, tracking and killing some of the most powerful mercenaries from the game. Ghost of Yotei will also feature a variety of weapons, unlike its predecessor.

Players can use anything ranging from a katana, spear, kusarigama, odachi, or dual-wield swords. Each weaponry will be reserved for different types of enemies. A new Tanegashima gun has also been added, which fires one bullet and deals heavy damage to enemies.

Combat has been updated in a similar manner. There are new moves, enemy variety, and character abilities. Players can now also lose their weapons if struck hard.
