An Expansion DLC Possible If Fans Demand For It!

Story Highlight
  • In a new interview, Ghost of Yotei co-director teased a new DLC for the game.
  • Such an expansion is possible if fans demand for it, implies Connell.
  • There are several route Sucker Punch can take to continue Atsu’s story.

Sony’s only first-party game of this year, Ghost of Yotei, managed to be an outright success for them, despite all odds stacked against it. The sequel sold a million copies in just one day, surpassing its predecessor’s record.

Now, for the future of the sequel, fans are expecting a DLC expansion similar to the first game. Fortunately, the game’s co-director is ready to further explore Atsu’s story, given the sufficient demand for it.

Why it matters: Ghost of Yotei offers one of the single-player experiences that this generation has to offer. As such, more content within the game is always welcome.

Sucker Punch Managed To Live Up To The Expectations With The Sequel

In an interview with Game Informer, co-director Jason Connell and lead writer Ian Miles were asked about a potential DLC expansion for the Ghost of Yotei somewhere down the line.

I think for us, we are at the spot in the project where we just get to put it out there and see what’s resonating with people and what people love and what people feel like they wish they maybe knew more about Atsu.

Connell brought up the Iki Island DLC for Ghost of Tsushima, which focused on Jin’s father and stated that for Atsu, if there are ‘rooms to improve it or to bring some new elements to life or clarity for the narrative’s sake,’ they’ll definitely get work on it.

For a potential story expansion, there are several routes that Sucker Punch can end up taking, and the sky is the limit for them. Bringing up the question that if fans want a DLC, there’s certainly a lot of demand for it in the air.

The sequel faced significant controversy due to political issues surrounding one of the developers behind the game. Many even attempt to boycott it, but the sequel still managed to shatter records, including one previously held by Marvel’s Spider-Man 2.
