Will Be First Person Only Like Its Predecessor!

Story Highlight
  • A new job ad for Senior Gameplay Animator confirms that the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel will only feature the first-person mode.
  • The first entry also went with only first-person, which paid off despite fan requests for third-person mode.
  • Another listing has suggested that the sequel will feature highly reactive and realistic crowds.

Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the biggest redemption arcs in the gaming industry, so fans hold it near and dear to their hearts. So, it’s no surprise that every minor detail about the upcoming sequel, Project Orion, is on the radar of most gamers.

We have found a new job listing published by CD Projekt Red for Senior Gameplay Animator, which confirms that the sequel won’t let you switch camera perspectives. In other words, the gameplay will be locked behind first-person only.

Why it matters: The Cyberpunk 2077 sequel’s use of only the first-person camera mode is both a boon and a bane for fans. While some gamers want third-person gameplay, others think it does not suit the series well.

CDPR’s job listing for the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel confirms that it will only have first-person.

Two years ago, CD Projekt Red confirmed in an interview that the third-person perspective was still undecided for the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel. So, unless the decision is reversed again, the job listing suggests CDPR has chosen to go with the first-person perspective like its predecessor.

you’ll be an integral part of the game development process, using your expertise to enhance the players immersive experience in first person view.

Elsewhere in the listing, CDPR also mentions that the Senior Gameplay Animator is expected to whip up “hand-keyed, visually appealing, immersive first-person animation assets” to turn the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel into the studio’s next magnum opus.

It is also worth noting that another job listing published by CDPR confirms that the sequel will feature the most realistic NPC crowds to date. This is something the developers can most likely achieve because of the studio’s portfolio, including behemoths like The Witcher 3.

Cyberpunk 2077 Steam Players Going Strong
Cyberpunk 2077 has been performing quite well on Steam lately because of updates.

Unfortunately, we’ll likely have to wait for years to learn more official details for the Cyberpunk 2077 sequel.

Do you think the Cyberpunk sequel’s lack of a third-person mode will sully the otherwise highly anticipated experience or is first-person enough? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, or join the discussion on the Tech4Gamers forum.
