Modern Warfare 3 Premieres 9 Minutes of Campaign Gameplay

Multiplayer Deep Dive Coming October 5!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is bringing popular antagonists like Makarov to the new Modern Warfare universe from Infinity Ward.

The game is scheduled to release on November 10, launching with an exciting campaign and a multiplayer mode with all 16 maps from 2009’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Following the last few days of marketing, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 has returned with brand new campaign gameplay at Gamescom 2023.

Why it matters: Call of Duty has shipped with new campaigns nearly every year for over a decade, and these story modes have become an integral part of the IP’s identity.

The footage shows around 9 minutes of gameplay from the very beginning of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.

It highlights a stealthy approach in the beginning, with the classic cinematic flair that Call of Duty campaigns have incorporated since 2007’s Call of Duty 4.

The gameplay shows Operation 627, a mission starting with players coming out of the Kastovian Sea to attack an enemy compound.

This encounter leads to the use of familiar gadgets like grappling hooks and night vision goggles, hinting at a similar but exciting campaign for the latest Call of Duty entry.

The similarities also extend to the visuals and gameplay, which appear to be building on the foundations of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

Apart from the campaign gameplay, Sledgehammer Games has confirmed a massive Call of Duty event for October 5.

Call of Duty Next will reveal a plethora of details about the game’s multiplayer offerings and lead into the beta on October 6.

Like recent years, the first beta weekend will be exclusive to PlayStation console owners. Xbox and PC gamers will be able to join the action from October 12.
