Battlefield 2042 Also Received A New Update Just Recently!

Story Highlight
  • Battlefield 2042 has seen a major player resurgence with over 20k concurrent players, building on Battlefield 6’s hype.
  • The game also received a new update recently, adding new guns, a map, and aircraft, among other changes.
  • The entire franchise is experiencing high engagement and will continue to do so until Battlefield 6 launches.

It’s safe to say that EA is finally back in business after the recent Battlefield 6 beta. The FPS has been gaining a lot of traction and, just in its beta phase, has surpassed Call of Duty’s overall peak player count.

That is to say, Battlefield 6’s hype has also increased the popularity of the entire franchise. The new entry has also inadvertently caused the entire series to blow up, with Battlefield 2042 now hitting its peak player count of over 20k players for the first time in a year.

Why it matters: EA desperately needed this comeback, especially after the publisher’s rough few recent years. Moreover, the Battlefield franchise was trailing behind the competition by a huge margin, but that’s no longer the case.

The Battlefield 6 beta just ended recently, and fans are already hungry for more. It’s only right for them to visit older entries to wait for a full release. EA was ready for this scenario and released a free update for Battlefield 2042.

The latest update and potentially the last one, adds ‘Iwo Jima’ as a new map, two new weapons, two new aircraft, as well as a free battle pass. Some gameplay changes and bug fixes also came with this update.

Aside from Battlefield 2042, Battlefield 4 also had a spike in its player count, the highest-ever in 3 years.

Over the next two months, expect increased engagement across all past Battlefield entries as fans prepare for the new entry. Battlefield 6 is already looking to be successful, nearing a million pre-orders, and is expected to ‘boot stomp‘ Call of Duty in comparison.
