Assassin’s Creed Shadows Places More Emphasis On Stealth Over Past RPGs

Stealth Will Be More Expansive Than Ever!

Story Highlight
  • Assassins Creed Shadows’ stealth has been revamped.
  • Naoe can make use of tall grass, ponds, and shadows to stay hidden.
  • The team has also reintroduced social stealth, creating a complete stealth system compared to past RPGs

Assassin’s Creed Shadows has already created excitement among the fans after Xbox showcased gameplay footage of the much anticipated Japanese setting.

Furthermore, Ubisoft’s extended gameplay highlighted how both characters complement each other. While Yasuke was shown to be aggressive, Naoe took the more assassin-like route to combat.

Ubisoft also says stealth is much more important in Assassin’s Creed Shadows than in past RPGs.

Why it matters: Assassin’s Creed is known for stealth, so Ubisoft offers a more familiar gameplay style with this entry.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows features stealth gameplay through the shinobi Naoe. Yasuke, on the other hand, does not rely on stealth. Fortunately, Ubisoft won’t force players to play as one or the other.

Stealth revolves around literally using the shadows. At night, darker areas will leave Naoe undetected. She can also use the environment to take out lanterns and create more shadows.

Elsewhere, series staples like hiding in tall grass are coming back. Another neat feature exclusive to Naoe is that she can eliminate foes through rice paper walls. Ubisoft has also added underwater stealth.

Naoe can use ponds to surprise foes and open more creative sandbox opportunities. However, that’s not all. A new report says that the game will mark the return of social stealth.

This is another classic stealth mechanic that was slowly tapered off once Ubisoft became more RPG-focused. It was reintroduced in Assassin’s Creed Mirage, but social stealth hasn’t been too important in recent RPGs.

All in all, Assassin’s Creed Shadows seems to offer the most complete stealth gameplay that this franchise has had in many years.

However, fans should note that Yasuke cannot utilize social stealth. Since he serves as the brute in this duo, he will continue to face enemies head-on and overpower them through sheer strength.

Assassin’s Creed Shadows officially arrives on November 15, and we couldn’t be more excited. Despite its status as another RPG, this entry seems to be offering the best of both worlds for fans. This makes it the most interesting Ubisoft release in several years.
