- Ubisoft has announced a new story chapter featuring new missions and a brand-new location for Assassin’s Creed Mirage.
- The free DLC update will take the game to 9th-century AlUla, a city in Saudi Arabia.
- Reports suggest that a Saudi Arabia-based company, Savvy Games Group, funded this update.
Launched in 2023, Assassin’s Creed Mirage was initially a DLC planned for Valhalla but was later transformed into a standalone release.
Surprisingly, the former DLC-turned-standalone title is receiving a DLC itself later this year. Ubisoft has just announced a free update for the game featuring a new story with several missions set in a brand-new location, gameplay improvements, and more.
Why it matters: Assassin’s Creed Mirage was practically a love letter from Ubisoft to the series’ fans. As such, the game receiving more content with new missions and all for free is a huge win for fans.
The new story will be set in 9th-century AlUla, a city in Saudi Arabia. Miles away from the initial setting of Baghdad, AlUla will still have a similar feel.
It’s unknown what this new story will follow, but if tradition follows, Assassin’s Creed DLCs always feature a mythical storyline.
A previous report suggested Ubisoft entered a deal with the Saudi Arabia-based company, Savvy Games Group. The report further revealed that the investment company will fund Ubisoft for an Assassin’s Creed Mirage DLC set in Saudi Arabia.
This deal would make the series more appealing to Middle Eastern audiences. Free DLC and updates will drive engagement even higher and expose the game to a brand-new Saudi Arabian audience. If all goes well, expect more Assassin’s Creed games set in the Middle Eastern region.
