- Activision calls Black Ops 7 launch successful, thanking fans for the positive response.
- In reality, the game’s user score is at 1.7 on Metacritic, telling a different story.
- As a result, Black Ops 7 has become the lowest-rated game in the series’ history.
Black Ops 7 has set a new low for the Call of Duty franchise, and a comparison to Battlefield 6 wasn’t even needed to describe how much of a catastrophe Activision’s magnum opus has become.
Despite this trainwreck of a launch, Activision is trying to portray a different image. They recently posted on social media, congratulating developers behind the game and thanking fans for the ‘great response’ to ‘quality and depth of gameplay’ in Black Ops 7.
Why it matters: No PR is ever going to change the mind of fans for Black Ops 7. Activision really needs to rethink its future plans for this veteran FPS franchise.

While Activision is thanking fans for the great response, the user review score on Metacritic tells a different story. Black Ops 7 is one of the lowest-rated games in the entire Call of Duty series, with a 1.7 score based mostly on negative reviews.
One of the most complained-about aspects of the game is the campaign mode, which shows that Black Ops has become a parody of its former self. The game has a Skibidi toilet boss battle, which is absurd for a game marketed as an authentic military FPS.

On top of that, the game is openly using AI slop despite the big budget allocated for Call of Duty games. The result is that the Day One Steam player count has dropped by 70% compared to its prequel.
