- Pocketpair publishing manager Bucky has praised Arc Raiders for being the most technically impressive title he’s played this year.
- He argues that the game has the potential to be the new benchmark for Unreal Engine games.
- It’s a huge achievement because bugs and optimization issues often plague many Unreal Engine 5 games.
Many major AAA and big-budget indie titles use Unreal Engine 5 for its useful features, but that often results in optimization issues. However, UE entries like Clair Obscur and Arc Raiders have proven to be excellent exceptions in the industry.
Now, Palworld developer and Pocketpair publishing manager Bucky argues that the extraction shooter is so impressive that it may become the new benchmark for Unreal Engine development, standing alongside titles like Cyberpunk 2077 and Black Myth: Wukong.
Why it matters: Arc Raiders is a remarkably optimised entry, despite being built using the controversial Unreal Engine 5, and its visuals have also won over many players.

In a tweet, Bucky explains that Arc Raiders is possibly the most technically impressive project he’s played this year, dubbing it a technical marvel compared to other games he’s experienced in the last 10 months.
The entry also pushes visuals to new extremes without affecting performance or requiring beefy rigs. For example, the sunset at the Buried City map is arguably one of the most scenic experiences in the game.
Arc Raiders also blends the extraction shooter formula perfectly with its enjoyable worldbuilding. Therefore, it’s no surprise that it has already sold over 1.5 million copies on Steam in just three days.

Bucky also addresses the ‘trend’ of blaming UE5 for leading to poor optimization and high system specifications in games, implying that Arc Raiders stands out as a perfect counter to those claims.
Embark Studios is also working hard to combat cheating, returning lost loot to players who have been cheated against. The studio also promised not to feature absurd skins, like those seen in the last few Call of Duty games.
