Will Feature Naughty Dog's Deepest Gameplay Ever!

Story Highlight
  • Ex-Developer’s profile reveals that Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will feature an RPG progression system.
  • The same system is also present in other PS games like Horizon games.
  • Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will, by far, feature Naughty Dog’s deepest gameplay ever.

After releasing eight different iterations of The Last of Us games, Naughty Dog is finally ready to move on and is currently working on a brand-new IP. Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will be a sci-fi game and will be the studio’s return to action-adventure roots that started all the way back with Crash Bandicoot.

Details on the game are currently scarce because it’s still deep into development. However, a new developer profile has now given us a hint at what we can expect from the gameplay. Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet will apparently feature an RPG progression system.

Why it matters: An RPG progression system suggests that the game will be on a bigger scale, unlike anything we’ve seen from Naughty Dog thus far.

LinkedIn Profile Of An Ex-Naughty Dog Developer Suggests That Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet Will Feature An RPG Progression System

This information comes from Kristina Gu’s LinkedIn profile, who previously worked as an Associate Technical Designer for Naughty Dog, working on Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

For those unfamiliar, an RPG progression system refers to characters leveling up as they complete quests and tasks within an open world. Notable examples include FromSoft’s Elden Ring, where players can increase attributes by XP, or the Horizon games, which feature a full skill tree that expands as players gain experience.

Beyond the RPG progression system, Elden Ring’s open-world and freedom approach was also another influence for Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet.

Despite its promising gameplay and concept, the game is still not immune to controversy. The reveal was quite rocky, with fans expressing their disappointment over the main protagonist, accusing Naughty Dog of forced DEI.

Still, the studio aims to fix what it lacked in previous games with this new sci-fi title. Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet aims to feature Naughty Dog’s deepest gameplay so far.
